The fifth highest mountain in the world – Mount Makalu is like a four sided pyramid and is located southeast of Mount Everest on the border between Nepal and China. The Kanchenjunga Trek offers one of the most beautiful terrains for hiking and adventures in its weather beaten off-trail routes. The third highest mountain in the world, Kanchenjunga which lies partly in Nepal and partly in Sikkim, India. Also called the “Five Treasures of the Snow” after its five high peaks, Kanchenjunga has always been worshipped by the people of Darjeeling and Sikkim. One of the 6 mountains with altitude over 8000 meters in the world, the Kanchenjunga Trek offers lush and beautiful vegetation and varieties of flora and fauna found in the eastern region of Nepal. Perhaps the most popular trekking routes in the entire region is the Annapurna Panorama Trek, known for its panoramic views of the massive mountain range. It is also one of the easiest treks to do as it takes you to heights where altitude sickness is rarely encountered and lets you bask in the mountains up close. Waking up early in the morning, trekkers often go visit Poon Hill to see the rising sun amidst the mountains. As the rays of the rising sun strikes the ivory peaks, the snowy mountains turn molten gold and the whole experience is heavenly.
A classic trekking journey which rises as high as 5,416 meters on the Thorang La Pass touching the edge of the Tibetan plateau, this route offer the glorious view of the mountains (Annapurna I-IV, Dhaulagir, Machhapuchhre, Manaslu, Gangapurna, Tilicho Peak, Pisang Peak and the Paungda Danda) at close quarters. Passing through the paddy fields into the subtropical forests, you can also encounter several waterfalls and enormous cliffs along the way.
Mount Mansalu is eighth highest peaks in the world and is located east of Annapurna. Its name derived from Sanskrit “Manasa” which means “intellect” or “soul” can be linked to its another name – the mountain of spirits. The region comprises Manaslu Conservation Area which leads trekkers from the sub-tropical Himalayan foothills to arid high pastures bordering Tibet.
