This Park is the closest one to Kathmandu. Langtang was designated as the first Himalayan National Park in 1970-71, and was gazette in March 1976. While the main reason for the park is to preserve the natural environment, an equally important goal is to allow local people to follow traditional land use practices that are compatible with resource protection.

Langtang Tea House Trek: Langtang National Park lies about 32 km on air distance from Kathmandu to the North and it goes all the way to Nepal-China (Tibet) border. It covers an area of 1710 sq km. Highest part is 4610 meter on the trekking route and highest mountain is 7245 meter. On our mentioned itinerary we visit upto 4100 meters only, but those wish can go higher up with longer time. Langtang National Park encloses the catchments of two major river systems, the Trisuli River in the west and the Sun Koshi River in the east. This National park provides habitat for a wide range of Birds and animals. The Trisuli-Bhote Koshi River forms an important route for birds on spring and autumn migrations between India and Tibet.

Some of the good birds possible to be seen: Slender-billed Scimitar Babbler, Mrs Gould’s Sunbird, Red-headed Bullfinch, Brown Bullfinch, Black-throated Parrotbill, Kalij Pheasant, Blood Pheasant, Himalayan Monal, Satyr Tragopan, White-browed and Golden Bush Robin, White-winged Grosbeak, Bearded Vulture, Himalayan Vulture, Spot-wined, White-browed, Beautiful, Pink-browed and many other Rose Finches and Finches, Tesias, Babblers, Laughingthrushes and many more. And Mammals including of Common (Himalayan) Langur, Assamese Macaque, Himalayan Thar, Ghoral, Muntjack, Himalayan Mouse Hare and even some very rare animals like Hiamlayan Black Bear, Red Panda and Snow Leopard.

Trip Itinerary

Day 1 : Arrive Kathmandu, transfer hotel

Arrival in kathmandu and transfer to Hotel.

Day 2 : Drive to Dhunche, Overnight at guesthouse

Early morning after having breakfast, we drive from Kathmandu to Dhunche (1950m.) which takes about seven hours. Along the bus journey, we will view a beautiful village and snow Scrapped Mountain along the Langtang Himalaya and it will make our trekking become pleasant and touch our heart. We head north out of Kathmandu driving through scenic foothills and ridgeline vistas to Dhunche.The first part of our drive up to Trishuli Bazaar are quite smooth. The path then moves along the gravel road. During the rainy season, the way is sometime blocked due to landslides

Day 3 : Commence trek to Sing Gompa

After morning breakfast in Dhunche, the trail slightly goes. Crossing a suspension bridge over this stream, we begin to trek steep up until we reach Sing Gompa through pine, silver oak and rhododendron forests with marijuana plants. There is an old cheese factory at Sing Gompa. Along the trail we will pass several mountains village to reach Sing Gompa and visit cheese factory in the Langtang region of Nepal, where we will stay for overnight.


Day 4 : Trek to Cholangpati, Over night at lodge

Trekking and bird watching from Sing Gompa to Cholangpati is a popular activity for nature enthusiasts in Nepal. Sing Gompa, located at an elevation of 3,330 meters, serves as the starting point for this scenic trek. As you travel towards Cholangpati, which is located at a higher elevation of 3,600 meters, you'll be surrounded by stunning views of the Himalayan Mountain Range and have the chance to see a variety of bird species along the way.

Day 5 : Birding around Cholangpati-Lauribinayak Over night Cholangpati

Trekking from Cholangpti to Gosainkunda (4361m.) via Laurebenayak La (3920m.) takes about six hours. The first part of the trail giving and exotic feeling emerges gently ascent up to Laurebenayak. Then the trails steeply ascend all the way to Gosainkunda. We follow a rugged trail with dramatic views; to the west Himal Chuli (7893m) Manaslu range (8156mm), Ganesh Himal range(7406m), Tibetan peaks and Langtang Lirung. On a clear day, even the Annapurna range can be seen rising up behind and to the north across the valley is Langtang Lirung. We pass a few huts in the high pasture of Laurebenayak, cross a small ridge and have your first views of the holy lakes. There are about a dozen lakes in the Gosainkunda Basin, the main three being Saraswatikunda, Bhairabkunda, and Gosainkunda. According to legend, Gosainkunda was created by Shiva when he pierced a glacier with his trident to obtain water to quench his thirst after having swallowed a poison that threatened to destroy the world. Stay overnight at tea house.

Day 6 : Birding around and trek down to Chopche over night lodge

oday’s trail is a bit challenging as you have to pass through the Laurebinayak Pass. Initially, the trail skirts the shore of the lake before ascending towards the Laurebina Pass and then gradually descends down to the southeast on a rocky path. Some parts of the trail is very tricky, so you have to be more careful while you walk. Passing three more small lakes, the trail ascend and cross Laurebinayak Pass. After the pass, the path descends down to Phedi and you continue to walk up and down throughout crossing a rocky hill with pine, rhododendron trees. Laurebinayak gives impressive reasons of doing Lang tang Circuit Trekking. The view on the side of Langtang valley is impressive. Sunset over Ganesh Himal and Langtang Himalayan range looks amazing but we won’t get chance to see the sunset from here as we have to walk further to reach Ghopte. Further continuing our walk we’ll come to see some roofless stone herders’ huts, and from here the trail descends another ridge, crossing several streams and passing two waterfalls. After passing another stone hut, we climb to another ridge and reach Ghopte. Upon arrival at Ghopte, you can see overhanging rocks form a cave that is used as a campsite by the trekkers and we will be camping at the same destination today.  The Himalayan peaks look very close from here. High altitude can cause basic to mild headaches here, please consult with your guide if you have any symptoms like this.

Day 7 : Birding and trek down to Thulo Shyabru

On this day, we gradually descend down to the river at first and then ascend to Thulo Syabru. Enroute, you will be fascinated by the views of Lang tang Himal and many more. Passing through pine and juniper forest, from here the trail starts ascending up through beautiful green forests with distant views of Thulo Syabru on top. Thulo Syabru is a beautiful Sherpa and Tamang village from where you can observe the miraculous vista of Langtang Himal and Ganesh Himal. We will camp overnight here.

Day 8 : Birding and trek back to Dhunche

Trek from Thulo syapru to Dhunche takes about five hours. The first part of the trails ascends gradually through mineral water factory up to Ghatte Khola (stream). Thulo Syabru is a beautiful Sherpa and Tamang village from where we can observe the miraculous vista of Langtang Himal and Ganesh Himal. 

Day 9 : Drive to Kathmandu, overnight hotel

Today, we drive back to Kathmandu. It is a pleasant drive back to Kathmandu enjoying the natural varieties of Nepal. Having lunch on the way, we reach Kathmandu after eight hours long drive. Transfer to the hotel and rest.

Day 10 : Transfer to Airport final departure.

Depature to homeland.
