Let’s break down this incredible journey step by step!

Annapurna Base Camp Trek Itinerary (10 Days)

Day 1: Kathmandu to Pokhara (850m) – 7 Hours Drive

Your adventure kicks off with a scenic drive through Nepal’s rolling hills, terraced farms, and winding rivers. Pokhara, Nepal’s adventure capital, welcomes you with its laid-back lakeside charm. Take an evening stroll by Phewa Lake, where the reflection of the Annapurna range in the water is simply magical.

Day 2: Pokhara to Nayapool (Drive: 1.5 hrs), Trek to Ghandruk (1940m) – 4/5 hrs Walk

As the trek begins, you’ll walk through picturesque villages and forests alive with birdsong. Ghandruk, a traditional Gurung village, is known for its stone houses, cultural museums, and stunning views of Annapurna South and Machhapuchhre (Fishtail Peak). In the evening, enjoy a warm Gurung welcome with traditional songs and dance performances.

Day 3: Ghandruk to Chhomrong (2170m) – 5/6 hrs Walk

The trail winds through rhododendrons and oak forests before descending to the Kimrong Khola River and climbing up again to Chhomrong, the last major settlement before heading deep into the Annapurna Sanctuary. The village, perched on a hillside, offers surreal sunset views over Annapurna South and Hiunchuli.

Day 4: Chhomrong to Himalayan Hotel (2920m) – 6/7 hrs Walk

Crossing suspension bridges and trekking through bamboo forests, you’ll notice the air getting cooler as the altitude increases. The trail passes Dovan and Bamboo, where the dense forests open up to reveal glacial rivers and towering cliffs. You might even spot some langurs (Himalayan monkeys) playing in the trees!

Day 5: Himalayan Hotel to Annapurna Base Camp (ABC - 4130m) via Machhapuchchhre Base Camp (MBC - 3720m) – 5/6 hrs Walk

This is the most breathtaking day of the trek! The landscapes shift dramatically from dense forests to alpine meadows and then into a high-altitude glacial valley. Machhapuchchhre Base Camp (MBC) offers the first unobstructed 360° views of the surrounding peaks before you make the final push to Annapurna Base Camp (ABC).

At 4,130m, you’ll stand surrounded by a massive amphitheater of peaks, including Annapurna I (8,091m), Annapurna South, Hiunchuli, and Machhapuchhre. As the sun sets over the glaciers, the mountains glow golden, making it a truly unforgettable moment.

Day 6: ABC to Bamboo (2340m) – 6/7 hrs Walk

After witnessing a spectacular sunrise over Annapurna, you’ll begin your descent. Retracing your steps through MBC and Deurali, you’ll descend back into the lush bamboo forests, with towering peaks still visible in the distance.

Day 7: Bamboo to Jhinu Danda (Hot Springs) (1755m) – 5/6 hrs Walk

Today’s trek takes you to Jhinu Danda, famous for its natural hot springs. After days of trekking, a dip in the warm waters beside the roaring Modi Khola river is the perfect way to relax your muscles.

Day 8: Jhinu Danda to Pothana (1700m) – 5 hrs Walk

Passing through terraced fields, waterfalls, and small villages, you’ll reach Pothana, a peaceful hilltop village with jaw-dropping views of the Annapurna range. The night sky here, filled with millions of stars, is a sight to behold.

Day 9: Pothana to Phedi (1050m) – 2.5 hrs Walk, Drive to Pokhara (820m) – 45 min Drive

A gentle descent leads you to Phedi, where a short drive takes you back to Pokhara. Spend the evening enjoying lakeside cafés, boating on Phewa Lake, or visiting the famous World Peace Pagoda.

Day 10: Drive from Pokhara to Kathmandu (1350m) – 7 hrs

As you head back to Kathmandu, you’ll reflect on the incredible journey—the places you’ve seen, the people you’ve met, and the mountains that will forever stay in your heart.
